Dutch Tournament – 15th May 2010.

Dutch Tournament In 2009 we hosted the Dutch Tournament and the Robur ‘A’ team won the tournament so on the 15th May a team from Robur came over to defend the title. Nine teams took part being split into two groups playing a round robin tournament in the morning. After lunch the top 6 teams went forward into the Main knockout  competition. The remaining 3 teams went into the Plate competition where they played each other with the top two teams going forward into the final.Congratulations to Wallington and Morden who made it through to the Plate Final with Wallington becoming the Winners. 

For the main competition for the second year running we ended up with the West Sutton National Team playing Robur in the final. This year West Sutton came out on top beating Robur in a closely fought match. Congratulations to both teams.

On the 20th May we will be taking 42 children to Holland to take part in Robur’s tournament on the 22nd May.  

National Little League Boys Tournament

First Round Saturday 17th April 2010

The tournament was organised into four groups with WSLL playing against Northfield, New Addington and Selsdon at New Addington’s ground. WSLL played well winning two of their games and drawing the third game. The results of WSLL group were:

Quarter Finals Saturday 24th April 2010

For the quarter finals Sutton played against Morden at Morden’s ground and won the game 2:0.  

Semi Final / Final Saturday 1st May

WSLL played against  Wimbledon in the semi final losing to Wimbledon 2:1. Wimbledon went on to beat ?? in the Final.

National LL Girls Tournament – Cheam Rec 22nd May

We did the double – again! 

WSLL girls won the 2010 Girls’ National Tournament – both the U14/U13 and U12/U11 sections, retaining both trophies.  Congratulations to the 34 girls who represented us, the entire league is very proud of you and of those who managed your teams!  The sun shone and there was a gentle, cooling breeze and visitors to Cheam Rec were treated to outstanding and closely contested football matches all day.  Players and spectators alike thoroughly enjoyed the occasion.  The trophies were presented by Annabel Prior a former WSLL girl, who now plays for Fulham U16s and is in the England U15 training squad.

Little League U10 Tournament – 5th June

Under the Managership of Steve Fowler we entered a team in the U10 6-aside National LL Tournament on the 5th June at Goals North Cheam. The boys did extremely well despite strong competition from 13 other LL teams and high temperatures. The team made it through to the semi-finals of the Plate competion losing 1:0 to Clapham.
